CAMSE Kit
Express your feelings. Experience your calm.
What is the CAMSE Kit?
CAMSE Kit is a nonprofit organization founded in Evansville, Indiana.
We are proud to be the pioneer of kits in the Tri-State!
CAMSE is short for Cam's Sensory Equipment Kit.
The kits were created by Kelsey Schapker, in celebration of her son Camden, who is on the autism spectrum. The kits allow law enforcement, firefighters, airports, and other organizations to bring comfort to special needs children and adults in the event of a crisis, emergency, or stressful situation.
Crucial Benefits of Having a CAMSE Kit
Being able to communicate with and help an individual with special needs remain calm by providing sensory tools while a first responder works a scene.
In addition, the kits also assist an individual on the spectrum or anyone with a sensory need while in a stressful location, such as an airport.
TSA Officers at Evansville Regional Airport have successfully used a CAMSE Kit to help a passenger stay calm, and are quoted as saying, "It worked perfectly, as intended!"
Our community in Evansville, Indiana has embraced this idea, and the kits are currently in 18 agencies across four states - Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Below are a few photos of those agencies.
